Carbon Steel Elbow
Carbon steel elbows are first classified according to their radius of curvature, which can be divided into long radius elbows and short radius elbows. Long-radius elbow refers to its radius of curvature equal to 1.5 times the outside diameter of the tube, that is, R=1.5D. A short radius elbow means that its radius of curvature is equal to the outer diameter of the pipe, that is, R=1.0D.
Because stamping elbows have good comprehensive performance, they are widely used in basic projects such as chemical industry, construction, water supply, drainage, petroleum, light and heavy industry, refrigeration, sanitation, plumbing, fire fighting, electric power, aerospace, shipbuilding, etc.
Seamless elbow: an elbow is a pipe fitting used at the turn of the pipeline. Among all the pipe fittings used in the piping system, the proportion is the largest, about 80%. Generally, different forming processes are selected for elbows of different materials or wall thickness. Commonly used seamless elbow forming processes in manufacturing plants include hot pushing, stamping, and extrusion.
The basic process of carbon steel elbow is: firstly weld a polygonal ring shell with a polygonal cross section or a polygonal sector shell with closed ends. After the interior is filled with pressure medium, internal pressure is applied, and the cross section is cross-sectioned under the action of internal pressure. From a polygon to a circle, it eventually becomes a circular ring shell. According to needs, a circular ring shell can be cut into 4 90° elbows or 6 60° elbows or other specifications of elbows. This process is suitable for manufacturing any elbow whose pitch diameter to elbow inner diameter ratio is greater than 1.5 times. Large-sized elbows are an ideal method for manufacturing large-sized carbon steel elbows.
(1) Tube blanks are not needed as raw materials, which can save the cost of tube making equipment and molds, and can obtain arbitrarily large diameter and relatively thin carbon steel elbows.
(2) The blank is a flat plate or a developable curved surface, so the blanking is simple, the accuracy is easy to ensure, and the assembly and welding are convenient.
(3) Due to the above two reasons, the manufacturing cycle can be shortened, and the production cost is greatly reduced. Because it does not require any special equipment, it is especially suitable for on-site processing of large carbon steel elbows.
(4) Carbon steel elbows are suitable for pipeline series in oil, natural gas, chemical, hydropower, construction and boiler industries.
